Ongoing Projects and their Intended Impact

    1. ORPHANAGE.- The orphanage is not yet functional even though we have a Temporary Licence to Operate. Basic kitchen furniture and furniture for the four bedroom and parlours are available; however, due to the Foundation’s present constraints to feed and clothe possible orphans that would be brought to the Foundation, it was decided to make the orphanage available to the public in the second or third quarter of 2008. An Orphanage will give hope for a brighter future, love and care to those who have lost their parents or are abandoned.

    2. AWARENESS CAMPAIGNS. Continuation of awareness campaign in 2008 will impact directly on people’s risky behaviour thereby causing a behavioural change and an overall reduction of new HIV infections. Lectures to adolescence will enlighten them on the risks associated with early sex and the consequences of HIV and STI thereby encouraging abstinence, consequently, lectures to various Secondary Schools will be delivered monthly in 2008. Posters to create awareness of the availability of free and confidential HIV CT thereby encouraging people to avail themselves to our services, know their status and enable them make informed choices will continue to be pasted in strategic locations within Zaria metropolis.
    3. HIV CT The Foundation will continue to provide free Counselling and Testing to enable individuals to know their status, live healthy and positively. Knowing ones status will enable the person to seek medical assistance if need be thereby living a healthier and longer life, at the same time those who are positive will be more responsible in their sexual activities. CT will achieve a reduction in new HIV infections when people are aware of their status and enlightened on the modes of transmission of the virus and AIDS cases will be reduced through early medical intervention.

    4. SUPPORT GROUPS A support group will be established in 2008 to enable PLWHA realise that they are not alone; during meetings a they and would be able to discuss freely about their concerns, worries and share experiences.
